Antennas

Ultimately, the performance of any Inductively Coupled Telemetry (ICT)system, is limited by the design and construction of the coupled antenna (coils). Antenna design is complex and many parameters must be considered, for example antenna type, size, resonance frequency, gain, impedance, efficiency, bandwidth and polarisation to name but a few. The performance of any ICT system, or passive RFID system, is not only dependant on the antennas ability to transmit and receive data, but also its ability to provide power for the remote device. Careful consideration has to be taken when designing the antenna structures to optimise performance.

3D Modelling of the Reader-tag Antenna Interaction

Since system performance is so dependent on these components, Instrumentel has, and continues to, invest considerable resources into the understanding and design of antenna components. Using this extensive knowledge Instrumentel is capable of optimising antenna designs increasing the functionality of the tags. This knowledge also allows Instrumentel to create systems that are capable of operating outside the limits of standard industry equipment, for example the increased read-range of Industry standard RFID tags when in proximity of metal or operation in extreme environments.

Instrumentel posses the expertise, and know how necessary to improve the performance of current designs, or create new application specific systems.

Such support is available through Instrumentel's design services.
